Obituary

Currie Alexander Lundstrom was born on March 7, 1948 in Winnipeg, Manitoba to Henry and Alice Lundstrom. Currie lived in Steep Rock, Manitoba with his parents and brother Bill until he was one year old.  When Currie’s birth mother left the family, Currie’s Dad eventually moved four-year old Currie, his brother and their paternal grandmother to the Edmonton area in Alberta.

When Currie’s father remarried to Olive, the boys were left with a sister of their stepmom in Thorsby, Alberta for a year while the parents worked on oil rigs. The family came together again and worked in various places in Alberta and BC before finally making Fort St. John their permanent home.

After Currie’s marriage to Pamela, they moved and worked in Kamloops BC, vacationing in the Okanagan every weekend for a brief period of four months. Returning to Fort St. John, they lived here for over 54 years raising their two sons – Regan and Kelsey! AND spending much time enjoying grandsons Andrew, Austin, Crüe, Carson and daughter-in-law Natalie.

Currie loved to race snowmobiles in his younger years and won many trophies.  His occupations were as a welder in the oil patch, an oilfield consultant and a fabricator of jet boats (his hobby!). Currie enjoyed snowmobiling in the mountains as well as hunting, fishing, camping and hiking. He liked helping the neighbours, socializing, playing cards and board games with friends. Currie travelled with Pamela in Canada, USA, Hawaii, Mexico, England, Scotland, Ireland, and Europe. However, his favorite places were the Tuchodi country, Kitimat and Prince Rupert (for hunting and fishing!). Currie also enjoyed celebrating family birthdays and dancing in the kitchen of their home with Pamela!

Currie always assisted his two sons, Regan and Kelsey, in ‘rigging up’ their various welding trucks over the years and helping with their home maintenance. For his youngest son Currie fabricated a fantastic commercial greenhouse which he completed seven months before he passed away at the age of 74.

Ever heard of ‘Gyro GearLoose’?  Well, that was Currie – he said he did not know how he knew how to do ‘things’ but he just knew – like his maternal grandfather!

Currie was diagnosed twelve days before his death with a rare and aggressive bone marrow cancer – lymphoproliferative disorder – for which there is no treatment. Currie passed away in Alberta at the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital on November 7, 2022 - two days after being transferred from the Fort St. John Hospital in BC. Previous to that he was in the Prince George University Hospital, Prince George, BC for 12 days where he was diagnosed.

The greatest adventure of Currie’s life began February 10, 1979 when he accepted Jesus Christ into his life – he never looked back – he always kept his faith.

A celebration of life funeral service was held on November 12, 2022 at the NPMB Church in Fort St. John, BC.

We loved you, we miss you and we love you still.
