Jacqueline Clara Moffat was born in Quesnel, B.C. on
June 20th, 1926 to John (Jack) and Clara (Crosina)
Moffat of Barkerville, B.C. Her grandparents on both
sides of the family ran “Road Houses” at Alexandria &
153 mile house. Her formative years were in and around
Wells & Barkerville, B.C. before moving south to
Abbotsford and Mission graduating from Phillip
Sheffield High before heading to Los Angeles to attend
Wolfe School of Costume Design. She returned to B.C.
setting up a dress design store front in Vancouver, B.C.

She met the love of her life Vernon Clarke Ferris when
her mom did a little matchmaking. They were married on
her birthday during the Fraser River Flood of 1948. The
young couple moved to Prince George, Terrace and
finally settled in Fort St. John to help run the Fort

Vern’s love for the Fort St. John Flyers.

They retired to Westbank, B.C.in 1978, on the canal,

the Okanangan lake. They missed the Peace Country but
never the snow and cold. Their grandchildren were the
center of their world while having visits. They loved
to travel and enjoy the great outdoors.
