Obituary

Janet Dawn Johnson (Stromsmoe) was born March 9, 1938, in Calgary, Alberta. She passed March 8, 2023, in Fort St. John, British Columbia.

After graduation, Janet worked at a bank in Calgary. She married Gordon Johnson in 1960 and they started their life together in Calgary.

They moved to Fort St. John in 1962.

Janet and Gordon had three children, Darcy, Charlene and Leanne. 

Janet lost Gordon in 1972 in an industrial accident. She looked after the apartment house they owned, and raised their children.

Janet volunteered with the Hospital Auxiliary, Red Cross and the MCC Thrift Store. 

Janet is survived by her son Darcy; her daughter Leanne; brothers Keith (Betty Ann); Rex (Ann); and Gordon; six grandchildren;

and one great-grandchild. 

She had a strong faith in God and leaves many dear friends at her church and at her places of volunteer work.

Janet is pre-deceased by her husband Gordon, daughter Charlene, and good friend Norm Young (2017)

 

A celebration of life for Janet will take Monday, April 3, 2023 at 1:00 pm at the North Peace Mennonite Brethren Church with a tea to follow.
