In The Pas, Manitoba back in Fifty-One,
Born to Darrell and Iris, their beloved son,
From a wee lad Clint loved the outdoors,
And by thirteen he was doing dog chores,
He loved the North through and through,
And preferred his dog team over any ski-doo,
On the sixteenth year in the life of Clint,
God saved his soul and set his face like a flint,
He studied God’s word and read the book of Acts,
So he went to high school and handed out Gospel tracts,
This was our dad, he was passionate about God,
He loved his neighbors no matter how flawed,
It was 1970, before our time,
On October 10th they became partners in crime,
Mom and Dad were married that day,
For better, or worse, or come what may,
To show just how much the times have changed,
Dad was 19 when their vows exchanged,
By '79 there were five kids in all,
Mom needed a van just to get to the mall,
We saw it all with our mom and dad,
They had their struggles and could even get mad,
But you know what, in spite of everything,
We have nothing but the highest praises to bring,
For at the core of this forever marriage,
Was this forever KING that they taught us to cherish,
They demonstrated how love can last,
When you hold onto Christ and let go of the past,
On behalf of their kids they sacrificed all,
A life of ease for the sake of the call.
We can honestly say after all this time,
Our Mom and Dad were never part-time,
They lived, They Loved until his passing day,
When Jesus called our dear dad away,
You fought the fight, you finished the race,
Not on your own, but through God’s Grace,
It’s our turn now, you’ve left some big shoes,
There’s much to be done, there’s no time to lose,
We’ll keep it up and stay in the fight,
We’ll continue to labor, we’ll keep heaven in sight,
Dad, enjoy God’s presence on this very day,
As we celebrate your love that was never halfway!
