Jim Childs

July 15, 1947 – January 13, 2024

 

Charles James Childs (Jim), Born July 15th, 1947 in Lark Harbour Newfoundland passed away at the age of 76 surrounded by his loved ones at Fort Nelson General Hospital.  Jim loved spending time with his family having Sunday dinners, camping, and his favorite pastime was playing a good old game of Keno.

Jim spent most of his life at sea working for Atlantic Towing, Lobster fishing in Yarmouth Nova Scotia and with the Canadian Coast Guard until calling Fort Nelson home where he started JNS Contracting alongside his dear friend Sam Murrin.

Jim was predeceased by his loving parents, George and Amelia Childs and brothers Gordon Kendell and Vince Childs.

He is survived by his dear and loving wife of 49 years, Deborah Childs (Spurr); his son who he was very proud of, James Childs (Jen); and his dear daughter Amanda Childs (Mike); former daughter in-law Christina; his grandchildren, Jonathan, Noah, Leila, Rozalie, Jaimee and most recently Cole and Sydni; great-grandchildren, Serenity, Lincoln, Dallas, Sahara and another one on the way; his brothers and sisters, Mark(Kathleen), Bertha (Roland), Leona (Ron), Genova (Don) Maxine (Pearce), Doris (Lloyd) Mary-Ann (Roy), Wilfred (Rhonda), Archie (Lillian), Louise (Terry), Barry (Chrissy), sister in-laws, Phyllis and Laura; and brothers and sister in-laws Jimmy, Fred, Jack, Evelyn, Gail, Carol, and Ann. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and his best buddy Jack the dog.

A special thank you to Dr. Mostert who was always there for Jim, Lee our Community Paramedic, all of the staff at Fort Nelson General Hospital, BC Ambulance Service and the special members of Northern Rockies Fire Rescue that treated Jim like family.

 A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
